The absence of modern successors to classic 3D Pinball games, despite the potential of advanced GPUs, primarily stems from the niche nature of pinball enthusiasts in gaming. Developing highly realistic physics and graphics for a smaller audience isn't seen as commercially viable. Moreover, current pinball simulation projects, such as Visual Pinball's advancements, are driven by passionate but limited volunteer efforts.
