GUI programming has become incredibly complex primarily due to the convoluted and inconsistent nature of web technologies (browsers, HTML, JavaScript, CSS) and the rapid evolution of frameworks that often reinvent the same concepts poorly. Whereas older environments like Visual Basic, Delphi, or even older C++ libraries provided straightforward, stable tools for creating GUIs, modern web development lacks this simplicity and stability.
