For my computer's network settings, I use a combination of Pi-Hole for ad-blocking and Unbound for recursive DNS resolving, with DNSCrypt to encrypt the queries. This setup enhances privacy and security by preventing DNS leaks and allowing me to bypass ISP DNS services. While it’s more complex, I find it highly effective. If simplicity is important, consider alternatives like Google's or Cloudflare's public DNS services for better privacy compared to ISP defaults.
