Does (or why does) anyone use MapReduce anymore?

Yes, MapReduce is still in use but its classic form has largely been superseded by newer frameworks like Spark. These newer systems offer higher-level primitives and better cater to various use cases such as low-latency processing, graph processing, and machine learning, which were challenging for traditional MapReduce. However, the fundamental principles of MapReduce are still evident in modern data processing systems.
