Many engineers find mandatory company hackathons frustrating, as they can disrupt day-to-day tasks and OKRs. While these events might sometimes foster innovation, they often require significant upfront and post-event effort. Instead, integrating prototyping and demos into regular planning processes could be more effective and less disruptive, allowing for consistent innovation without the scheduling chaos.
